The Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance characterizes the recent announcements of EKYSY-PEO as unacceptable, which relates them to the upcoming elections. According to the announcement of the Ministry, EKYSY-PEO is constantly trying to highlight a distorted and misleading picture regarding the policies of the Government and the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance in relation to low-income retirees.
“The daily attacks by EKYSY-PEO on the altar of the election campaign are completely unacceptable, when they know, as well as the whole society, the dozens of policies implemented in recent years, especially for low-income retirees,” the statement said. He added that “the recent increase in the relevant allowances since last December, through which for the first time in the Republic of Cyprus all low-income pensioners receive incomes above the poverty line, is just one of the dozens of policies that have been implemented and which include “Widow's pension, free annual four-day leave, free medical care, free public transport, care and many other targeted actions and policies.”
Finally, the Ministry of Labor states that, “Although I say during the election campaign, the completely unacceptable and provocative announcements and positions of EKYSY-PEO are now daily, the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance will not follow this path, as we care of low-income retirees. “Issues concerning both pensioners and low-income pensioners are being discussed in a coordinated manner with all organizations and social partners, and the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Security will continue to work in this context.”
