Alarm signaled in Abadan, Iran after the collapse of a ten-storey building.
According to initial reports at least five people have lost their lives while dozens are trapped.
“Parts of the 10-storey Metropol building in Abadan, the capital of Khuzestan Province, have collapsed,” state television said, noting that the facility was still under construction.
An initial report confirmed that “At least four people have been killed,” said Mojtaba Khaledi, a spokesman for the National Rescue Service.
The building is located in Abadan's busiest street where commercial, medical and office buildings are located, according to state television.
The causes of the collapse are being investigated.
