A few days after the agreement of the Minister of Finance with PASYDY, SEK and PEO, for complete abolition of the bans on filling positions in the state machine, the Department of Public Administration and Personnel (TDP) forwarded a request to the Parliament for the thawing of 1,415 public seats. in the wider public sector.
These are 1,140 positions in the public sector and 275 positions in the wider public sector (221 positions in public law bodies and 54 positions in local government authorities). It is worth noting that most of the positions that will be filled are intended for the Ministries of Finance and Education and the Police. It is not ruled out, however, that the 1415-seat thaw may be linked to the recent government-trade union agreement. This is because in case the relevant bill that will be promoted in Parliament is approved, the law on the Public Service will be activated with the lifting of the bans on recruitment. That is, within the first four months of each year, all the first appointment positions that are vacant or will be vacated by the end of the year must be published in the official newspaper of the Republic, by EDY. On Monday in the Parliamentary Committee on Finance will clarify whether the thawing of the new posts is related to the recent agreement.

Where posts open
According to data sent to the Parliament, 1,140 first appointment positions concern 273 positions in the Ministry of Finance, 313 in the Ministry of Education (including professors, teachers, kindergarten teachers and trainers) and 229 in the Police. The thawing of six positions in the General Accounting Office, 52 positions in the Ministry of Transport, seven in the Ministry of Health and 16 in the Fire Service are also requested. In addition, there are 12 posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, eight at the Ministry of Justice, five at the Ministry of Energy, eight at the Ministry of Labor and 82 at the Ministry of Interior. There are also three positions in the Judicial Service, 23 positions in the Legal Service, one position in the Audit Office, three positions in the Office of the Personal Data Protection Commissioner, eight positions in the Internal Audit Service and one position in the Ministry of Research. Another seven positions concern the Ministry of Tourism, two positions the Ministry of Shipping, 17 positions the Ministry of Social Welfare, four positions the Ministry of Defense and 60 positions the Ministry of Agriculture.
In the EAC and Cyta most positions
Moreover, the 275 first appointment positions in the wider public sector concern 24 positions in the EAC, 21 positions in Cyta, five positions in the HRDA, 9 positions in the ALC, 6 positions in the Open University and six positions in the CERET. Also, 22 positions in the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, three in ETEK, five in the National Betting Authority, two KOAG, six OXS, 36 positions in the University of Cyprus, 12 positions in TEPAK and 13 positions in RIK. The THOK, KYPE, KOA, OAY, the Pancyprian Refugee Union, RAEK and the Contractor Registration Council are requesting the thawing of a position. The remaining 54 positions concern municipalities, communities, Sewerage and Water Supply Councils. & nbsp;
The DISY – DIKO proposal is also on the table
In the meantime, on Monday, the draft law of DISY and DIKO will be discussed again, with which the Parliamentary Committee on Finance will not decide on the thawing of & nbsp; promotion positions, but these will be done through the Public Service Committee. DIPA MP Marinos Mousioutas gave instructions to the services in Parliament to prepare an amendment. According to the DIPA MP, if the draft law promotes the exclusion from the de-icing procedures of the promotion positions, the continuation of the existing procedure for the first-appointment positions is pointless. Notes that the need to maintain these positions can be considered and decisions made through the state budget.
In the queue and promotions
The relevant Parliamentary Committee is called also consent to thawing and 22 promotion positions. These are three positions of senior IT officer in the Ministry of Research, three managerial positions in Secondary Technical Education, one inspector position in Primary Education, two positions in the PSC, 10 positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and three positions of senior executive engineer in public works.
