18th Children's Literature Day by Frederick University and Rivergate Bookstore

With a physical presence after three years of online events, this year's 18th Children's Literature Day, which has been continuously co-organized for the last 10 years by the RivergateBookstore and the University Frederick. The aim of the Conferences, which are aimed at Pre-Primary and Primary Education teachers, is the creative use of literary books in the classroom.

The theme of this year's Conference, which will take place on Saturday March 11 at Frederick University in Nicosia, is “Children's emotions through children's books, their reading and decoding”. The Conference includes workshops with a theoretical and experiential part, which will be held by the distinguished and distinguished authors of children's literature Vangelis Iliopoulos, Anna Kouppanou, Alcisti Halikia, Marivita Grammatikaki and Konstantina Armeniakou.The participants will have the opportunity to be trained in the use of words and language in order to communicate and decode emotions.

The Conference will be welcomed by mrs. Natassa Frederikou, President of the Frederick University Council, Mrs. Aigli Toumba, Director of the Rivergate Bookstore >, the President of P.O.E.D., Mrs. Myria Vassiliou, the President of the Greek section of IBBY, Greek Children's Book Circle, Dr. Vasiliki Nika, and Dr. Chrysanthi Katzi, President of the Department of Educational Sciences of the Frederick University .

Before the workshops, the authors Vangelis Iliopoulos and Vassiliki Nikas will present the proposal of the Greek Department of IBBY – Circle of the Greek Children's Book to create a message and poster for World Children's Book Day 2023as approved by IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People – International Organization for Youth). The sentence is entitled “I am a book. Read Me”.

The 18th Children's Literature Day is co-organized by the Department of Educational Sciences of Frederick University and the Rivergate Bookstore in collaboration with P.O.E.D. and the Greek Department of IBBY.

Teachers who wish to participate in the Conference should register their participation, as well as their preference for one of the workshops, through the online platform: https://events.rivergate.cy/18-paidiki, by March 9, 2021.Upon arrival at Frederick University, participants will receive the Conference folder with relevant documents, the book of the author whose workshop they will attend, the required materials for the workshop and a certificate of attendance. The participation fee is: €20 (includes the book, materials, certificate).
