    20 new Municipalities, 5 District Self-Government Organizations, 30 Community Service Complexes make up the new image of Local Self-Government in Cyprus, which will take shape after the elections – Elections-station and a new beginning for the municipalities and communities of Cyprus – All the candidates in detail

    Goal of the Local Government reform, as it has been determined by the competent authorities of the state, is the administrative and financial autonomy of the municipalities but also the financial viability of the new Local Authorities. At the same time, with the expansion of their role and responsibilities, to be able to offer more and better services to the citizen, while at the same time actively participating in the economic, social and cultural development.

    After many discussions and in order to make this reform possible, the House of Representatives passed the new legislations for Municipalities, District Self-Governing Organizations and Communities.

    And today, Cypriot citizens are invited to go to the polls to elect the new local rulers, those who will be the first to implement this reform.

    We present below the candidate Mayors, Deputy Mayors , and Presidents of Provincial Self-Governing Organizations (Regional Governors) in each province, which of them are supported by political forces and by which.

    Nicosia Province

    Candidate Presidents for the Provincial Self-Governing Organization of Nicosia are Konstantinos Yorkatzis, with support from DISY, DIKO, EDEK, DIPA-Synergasia and the Party for Animals and Andreas Assiotis, with the support of AKEL.

<p>For <strong>Nicosia Municipality</strong>, four independent nominations were submitted. Nikos Tornaritis is supported by DISY, DIKO, DIPA-Synergasia and the Party for Animals. Charalambos Proundzos is supported by AKEL, EDEK and Volt, and Panagiotis Mentzis by the Environmental Movement. Konstantinos Dimitriadis also submitted his candidacy for Nicosia Municipality.</p>

    Limassol Province

    In Limassol three nominations were submitted for the Presidency of the EOA , ten for the Municipality of the four Municipalities and 59 for the Vice-Mayorship of the 22 municipal departments.

<p>The Presidency of the <strong> Limassol Local Government Organization</strong>contended by the former Deputy Minister of Shipping, Vassilis Dimitriadis, supported by DISY and DIPA, the current Director General of the Limassol – Amathusuntas Sewerage Board (SALA), Yannis Tsouloftas, with the support of AKEL, DIKO, EDEK and the Environmental Movement – Citizens' Cooperation and the former director of the Cyprus College Limassol, civil engineer Christos Vakanas.</p>
<p>The <strong>City Hall</strong> <strong>of Limassol</strong> is contested by the current Mayor Nikos Nicolaidis, the architect Giannis Armeutis and the marketing consultant, former OEB President, Christos Michaelidis.</p>
<p>Nikos Nikolaidis is supported by DISY and DIPA-Synergasia, Yiannis Armeutis is supported by AKEL, DIKO, EDEK and Volt, while Christos Michailidis is supported by the Environmental Movement and the Party for Cyprus Animals.</p>

    Larnaka Province

    In Larnaka two nominations were submitted for the Presidency of the EOA, twelve for the Mayorship of the four Municipalities and 44 for the Vice-Mayorship of the four municipal apartments.

    The Presidency of the Larnaca EOA is contested by Angelos Hatzicharalambous, with the support of AKEL, DIKO, DIPA – Cooperation and Movement of Environmentalists and Evangelos Evaggelidis with the support of DISY.

<p>The <strong>Larnaca Municipality</strong> is contested by Andreas Vyras, Michalis Ppekri and Sotiris Ioannou.</p>
<p>Andreas Vyras is supported by AKEL, DIKO, DIPA-Synergasia, Volt and Party for Cyprus Animals, Michalis Ppekri from DISY and Sotiris Ioannou from ELAM.</p>

    Province of Famagusta

    In the Province of Famagustathree nominations were submitted for the Presidency of the EOA, nine for the Mayor of the four Municipalities and 23 for the Deputy Mayor of the 9 municipal apartments.

    The Presidency of the EOA of Famagusta is contested by Yannis Karousos, which is supported by DISY, DIPA-Cooperation, Andros Ktoridis, who is supported by AKEL and Theodoros Pyrillis.

<p>The <strong>Paralimni – Deryneia Municipality </strong> Michalis Zouvanis, Panagiotis Kyzas, Giorgos Nikolettos, Loukas Polykarpou and Kostas Fitiris are contending.</p>
<p>Giorgos Nikolettos is supported by DISY, EDEK and DIPA-Synergasia, Michalis Zouvanis is supported by AKEL and DIKO, while Panagiotis Kyzas is supported by the Party for the Animals of Cyprus.</p>
<p>Candidates <strong >Vice mayors of Ayia Napa</strong> are Pantelis Neos, supported by AKEL and Antonis Christou Gerimos, supported by DISY, DIKO and DIPA-Cooperation.</p>
<p>The <strong>Vice Mayor Sotiras </strong> Marios Adamou, supported by DIPA-Synergasia, and Antonis Koumis, supported by DISY.</p>
<p>The <strong>Vice Mayor of Avgoros</strong> are running for office.Pavlos Ioannou, who is supported by AKEL, and Panagis Michaelas, who is supported by DISY and DIPA-Synergasia, are contending.</p>

    For the position of President of EOA Paphos, DISY supports Kostakis Constantinou, while AKEL and DIKO support Charalambos Pittokopitis, Provincial Secretary of PEK and former deputy of DIKO.  Besides, Marios Tselepos also announced his independent candidacy for the position of President of EOA Paphos.

    Occupied Municipalities

    In the Akanthos Municipality the candidates are Eleni Iosif, with support from DISY and Eleni Mylona Hatzimichael, with support from AKEL, DIKO and Environmentalists.

    Candidates for the position Mayor of Famagustathey are Andreas Vrachimis, who is supported by DISY, Simos Ioannou, who is supported by AKEL, Linos Papagiannis, who is running with ELAM, Vassilis Mavrou, who is supported by the Environmentalist Movement, and the Cyprus Volt candidate, Clairi Chatzikakou. .

    The candidates in the Karavas Municipality are Damianos Hatzidamianou, supported by DISY and DIKO, and Nikos Hadjistefanou, supported by AKEL and EDEK.

    In the Municipality of Kyrenia,Iosif Violaris is supported by DISY, AKEL and DIKO, while Odysseas Patsalidis also submitted a candidacy.

    For the Municipality of Kythrea the candidates are Marios Zambakidis, who is supported by DISY and Evangelia Pavlidou Michael, who is supported by AKEL.

    In the Municipality of Lapithos, four candidates are running. Dimitris Minas is supported by DISY and DIKO, Andreas Savva by AKEL, Irineos Koumis by DIPA-Synergasia, while Paradeisa Mourettou also submitted a candidacy.

    For the Lefkonikos Municipality, Pieris Gypsiotis is supported by AKEL, DIPA and the Environmentalists, while DIKO supports the candidacy of Zina Lysandros Panagidis.

    For the Lysis Municipality Andreas Kouris submitted a candidacy, with support from DIKO and Kyriakos Larkos, with the support of the Environmentalists.

    Finally, for the Morfos municipality, the candidates are Viktoras Hatziavraam, with support from AKEL and Volt, Michalis Georgiadis, with support from DIKO and Antigoni Papadopoulou, with support from DIPA-Synergasia and EDEK.
