The Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company, one of the institutional supporters of the event, welcomes for another year the realization of the most historic Cyprus Marathon, namely the 24th Paphos Marathon, which will take place next Sunday, March 13 in Paphos. >
Following the Health Protocol of the races that was approved by the Ministry of Health, this year's Marathon will be limited to 1600 participations. & nbsp; The 2019 event had the participation of 3,500 runners. This year the foreign runners come from 35 different countries. The Cyprus Marathon has become one of the most important sporting, cultural and social events that Paphos hosts and contributes greatly to the development of winter sports tourism throughout the province. & Nbsp;
The organization of the international race is certified by the World Association of Marathons & amp; Endurance Roads (AIMS – Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) which numbers 415 Marathons from around the world. The Paphos Marathon times are recognized worldwide and allow runners to register for all the major marathons as long as they meet the time limits. & Nbsp;
The sporting event incorporates four different distances: Marathon (42,195 meters), & nbsp; Half Marathon (21,098 meters), 10 km Road Race and 5 km Family Road & nbsp;
Despite the special conditions, ETAP supported this year the promotion of this race through internet campaigns as well as the organization of a workshop with the participation of renowned running journalists from 5 countries. & nbsp; & nbsp;
In his statements the & nbsp; Director of ETAP Paphos, Nassos Hadjigeorgiou stated that it is really very important that Paphos for the 24th time hosts the Cyprus Marathon, an event known for its high level , for the range of athletes and nationalities it attracts as well as for the economic and other benefits it & nbsp; brings to the local and pan-Cypriot economy. At the same time, he outlined the fact that the destination Paphos, once again confirms that it has all the necessary ingredients to rise even higher in the preferences of athletes but also in the world map of destinations for athletes and sporting events. & Nbsp;
