27-year-old handcuffed for bomb at Cyta branch in Limassol - New arrests expected

Members of the Limassol TAE handcuffed a 27-year-old contracted hoplite today, in connection with the bomb explosion that occurred at a CYTA branch in the area of Agia Fyla, in Limassol, on December 13, 2020.

According to the Police, after evaluating the information obtained, a testimony emerged against the 27-year-old, who was arrested and is being interrogated at the offices of TAE Limassol.

The perpetrators had placed and detonated an improvised explosive device low power at the glass entrance of the branch, while then dropped two Molotov cocktails near a branch of the Hellenic Bank. It is reminded that at the entrance of CYTA's premises the words “Not at 5G” and “There is resistance” were spray-painted.

It is estimated that these are the same people who, a little later, tried to set fire to the Christmas tree of the Municipality of Limassol, in Grigoris Afxentiou Square, outside the District Administration.

The 27-year-old is expected to be brought before a court tomorrow for the issuance of a detention order, while the Police do not rule out the possibility that evidence may emerge for other people involved, as the perpetrators were at least five people.
