An increase of 29.2% in the fourth quarter of 2021 was recorded in the Turnover Index in Transport and Storage, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020, according to an announcement by the Statistical Service, reaching 103, 1 units.
The largest increases were recorded in water transport, which increased by 87.4% compared to the same period in 2020, reaching 75.2 units (2015 = 100). Air transport increased by 46%, reaching 1190.4 units. It is noted that air transport was also affected by the opening/closing of airlines due to the pandemic.
In addition, land transport and pipeline transport reached 112.2 units, recording an increase of 36.1% for fourth quarter of 2021. Warehousing and transportation support activities increased by 29.1%, reaching 99 points, while postal and courier activities recorded a marginal decrease of 0.2%, reaching 148.4 points.
During the period January-December 2021, the Turnover Index in Transport and Storage increased by 9.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2020, with the largest increase in water transport (annual increase 43.5%).
