What did the Deputy President of the Paphos Hoteliers Association, Evelyn Kleanthos Komodromou, say?
Some of the hotels in the Paphos district are expected to suspend their operations after the holidays but most will remain open throughout the winter
34% of hotel units in the wider Paphos area will remain in operation during the winter season, according to the Deputy President of the Paphos Hoteliers Association, Evelyn Kleanthos Komodromou, who stated that this percentage is higher than usual.
In her statements to CNA, Ms. Komodromou expressed her satisfaction with the fact that an effort is being made to keep Paphos open for tourism during the winter period, noting that the Paphos district is suitable for tourism all year round, both for locals and visitors from other countries. She added that some of the hotels in the Paphos district are expected to suspend their operations after the holidays, but most will remain open throughout the winter. She also said that because there are many rooms to rent in accommodations where there are no restaurants and other facilities, this helps other food industry professionals to remain in operation. Asked about the traffic in November at Paphos hotel units, Ms. Komodromou reported that this was at high levels of around 65%-70%. As for the summer tourist season, it was at the same levels as last year, around 80%.
He also noted that there is a moderate optimism for next year. He also urged the public to visit Paphos during the festive season, since there will be special Christmas events and activities both in the city and in the countryside.
