A total of 400 tons of humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates arrived today in Israel via Cyprus.

According to a statement by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the said aid was sent in cooperation with the American Aid for Near Eastern Refugees (ANERA).

The 400 tons of food arrived at Ashdod port in Israel via Larnaca to be trucked to Gaza.

UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy stated that the country wishes to work with all partners in the international community to provide aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, while the CEO and President of ANERA , Sean Carroll, expressed his satisfaction with the Organization's cooperation with the UAE government.

“ANERA is deeply grateful for its cooperation with the UAE government in providing food and other emergency assistance to the Palestinians in Gaza. We also hope that this will be the first shipment of many thousands of tons of aid in the future to be sent by ship or truck. We will provide as much of this aid as possible to the north of the Strip, where many are at risk of starvation. Anera has provided more than 24 million meals to Gaza since mid-October and this partnership will help provide millions more meals at this critical time,” he said.

The UAE confirms its commitment them to support all humanitarian efforts in cooperation with the international community to alleviate the crisis and also appreciate the support of the Government of Cyprus and the Amalthea Initiative in this regard.

The United Arab Emirates has provided more of 31,000 tons of emergency supplies, including food and aid and medical supplies, via 250 flights, 38 airports, 1,160 trucks and three ships.
