The Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare announces that after the passing and publication of the relevant Law, it is immediately proceeding with the implementation of the measure announced by the Government regarding the increase of the Child Allowance by 5% and the payment of 50% of the Child Allowance to students with large families , who are pursuing full-time degree programs leading to a bachelor's or master's degree. The two provisions of the legislation have retroactive effect from January 1, 2024.
Based on the provisions of the Law, all beneficiaries of the Child Benefit will start receiving from this month an increased benefit by 5% and at the same time they will receive the retroactive increase in question, as mentioned above from January 1, 2024.
Families with many children entitled to the Child Allowance in the current year with student children up to twenty-three (23) years old or up to twenty-four (24) years old, in the case of military service, will be able from August 30, 2024, to request a Child Benefit for the students, for the year 2024. The request can be submitted by completing the Change of Information Formand specifically the additional point under dependent children for students. The form will be posted, from August 30, 2024, on the website of the Welfare Benefits Management Service, https://www.wbas.dmsw.gov.cy.
For the academic year 2024 – 2025, no an additional application is required for students who will receive the allowance for the year 2024 and will continue their studies, provided they meet the age criterion.
Families with many children who will apply for the provision of Child Allowance to students for in the academic year 2024 – 2025 for the first time, they will be able to apply online, through CYLogin (https://www.gov.cy) withinOctober. A necessary condition is the registration in CYLogin and the identification of the profile of the applicant and the spouse (where applicable).
It is noted that, in all cases of application for a student child allowance of a large family, it is mandatory to submit a completed Form Authorization in original paper form, at the Welfare Benefit Service Points (S.E.P.E.), after arranging an appointment through the website of the Social Security Administration (https://www .wbas.dmsw.gov.cy) or by phone at 8000 2000.
Eligible families with many children will receive 50% of the Child Benefit for the student(s), based on the income category in which are retroactively effective from January 1, 2024 where and where applicable.
