When the creative approach met the Cypriot cuisine.
The type that we call gastronomic taverns and which is a trend in Greece, seems to have begun to conquer the gastronomic scene of our country.
With the exception of Patriko, which first embarked on the path of creativity many years ago, maybe some more restaurants that no longer exist, we are glad to notice that nowadays some chefs are in the process of experimenting so much with traditional flavors and locals ingredients (Cypriot but also Greek), trying to offer their customers something delicious but mostly creative.
Below are six restaurants in Cyprus that meet the criteria (if not all, maybe several of them) of the category that suddenly entered our lives, made our outings more delicious and flirted with the term “gastro tavern”.
Beba

With many years of experience in the food industry and after eight years in France and specifically in the restaurants of the Cypriot chef Andreas Mavromatis, Orestis came to Cyprus and together with his two brothers took the club of PAOK Kythraia, which is known as located on Stavrou Avenue . Orestes marries Greek traditional cuisine with creative elements and influences from French and Greek cuisine, using exclusively local and Greek raw materials. A feast of flavors, then, throughout the menu, with appetizers stealing the show.

In the center of Limassol is located since 2016 the Dionysus Mansion of Giannis Antoniadis, founder and owner of the famous Guaba Beach and George Zacharoglou, former restaurant manager at the luxury hotel Le Meridien. The interior of the space is simple, with rustic elements, while outside, the large courtyard with wooden tables under the trees and the starry sky, are suitable for a relaxing lunch or dinner. With a name reminiscent of Greek mythology and Cypriot dishes prepared with an extra dose of teasing by chef Dimitris Haidemenos, who curates the menu, even emphasizing the raw materials from local producers, Dionysus Mansion has an enviable place in the hearts of many good city.

If you have visited this restaurant in Tersefanou at least once in the last decade, then you know very well what exactly they offer. In the heart of the village, three brothers propose a creative – emotional cuisine, flagged by seasonality and with unexpected combinations of ingredients and flavors. Chef Kyriakos Fokou, who holds the reins in the kitchen, often changes the menu, looking for rare earth diamonds and shows the power of Cypriot cuisine. Although they have recently established the 12-course tasting menu (Tue-T-night), they have nevertheless decided to give their customers the opportunity to try again some of the classic dishes of their favorite creative tavern, through a new lunch menu (Σ & amp; Κ μεσημέρι). 12 signature dishes, hot and cold, created and offered at Patriko, from 2012 until today, are now offered a la carte.
