When the creative approach met the Cypriot cuisine.

The type that we call gastronomic taverns and which is a trend in Greece, seems to have begun to conquer the gastronomic scene of our country.

With the exception of Patriko, which first embarked on the path of creativity many years ago, maybe some more restaurants that no longer exist, we are glad to notice that nowadays some chefs are in the process of experimenting so much with traditional flavors and locals ingredients (Cypriot but also Greek), trying to offer their customers something delicious but mostly creative.

Below are six restaurants in Cyprus that meet the criteria (if not all, maybe several of them) of the category that suddenly entered our lives, made our outings more delicious and flirted with the term “gastro tavern”.

<p>The restaurant Thomas Bekas and the chef Barnabas Elias joined forces and their ‘baby’ became a hot destination from the very first day it opened. A permanent world that follows them step by step, the whole mainstream scene of the city, from lawyers to politicians and special dishes from a creative emotional kitchen. The logic of the store is to offer creative dishes, based on Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, as well as fresh and good quality ingredients. Appetizing mulberries, with the pie in the wood oven not to be missed from your table, excellent pork chop, handmade ravioli and barley with shrimp, are just some of the famous dishes of the baby. Otherwise, the manicured courtyard sets the tables on sunny days and everything resembles a black and white movie. From the restaurants with character that you go for the experience. </p>

With many years of experience in the food industry and after eight years in France and specifically in the restaurants of the Cypriot chef Andreas Mavromatis, Orestis came to Cyprus and together with his two brothers took the club of PAOK Kythraia, which is known as located on Stavrou Avenue . Orestes marries Greek traditional cuisine with creative elements and influences from French and Greek cuisine, using exclusively local and Greek raw materials. With a name reminiscent of Greek mythology and Cypriot dishes prepared with an extra dose of teasing by chef Dimitris Haidemenos, who curates the menu, even emphasizing the raw materials from local producers, Dionysus Mansion has an enviable place in the hearts of many good city.

<p>In its 8 years of course, Koutourou managed to become a hangout for many people. Through the dishes of the owner and chef Dimitris are born delicious pleasures that no one should miss. The space, decorated inside with vintage, retro elements, but also its courtyard against the backdrop of the “Sleeping Love” fountain, is also a serious reason to visit it. The portions are extremely filling and suitable for sharing. The highlights of the shop are the freshly baked bread, which is prepared on the spot, the eggplant salad with tahini and beetroot, but also the carrots in the oven with yogurt sauce. </p>

<p>A restaurant with authentic Greek flavors and atmosphere, located at the entrance of Vouni village near the reservoirs. The place is elegant, with the fine raw material to star, since the team always makes sure to choose the best and freshest meats, as well as the purest ingredients, which together compose a feast of flavors. On the other hand, the service is excellent and keeps the level high. The a la carte menu includes, among other things, kontosouvli, pork and chicken, ribs, kokoretsi, hands in the hull, black angus, etc. Of particular interest are the pastries, which are traditionally served on a silver tray and accompanied by yogurt. The sweets in the pan, such as the orange pie, are also exceptional, as well as the local sweets made by the women of the village. </p>

If you have visited this restaurant in Tersefanou at least once in the last decade, then you know very well what exactly they offer. In the heart of the village, three brothers propose a creative – emotional cuisine, flagged by seasonality and with unexpected combinations of ingredients and flavors. Chef Kyriakos Fokou, who holds the reins in the kitchen, often changes the menu, looking for rare earth diamonds and shows the power of Cypriot cuisine. Although they have recently established the 12-course tasting menu (Tue-T-night), they have nevertheless decided to give their customers the opportunity to try again some of the classic dishes of their favorite creative tavern, through a new lunch menu (Σ & amp; Κ μεσημέρι). 12 signature dishes, hot and cold, created and offered at Patriko, from 2012 until today, are now offered a la carte.
