“The President himself must give explanations regarding whether the return to the 1960 Constitution is a figure of speech or a proposal,” the president of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, told Politis 107.6 & 97.6. He added that “we hold that he said that he remains committed to a solution and resolutions”, noting at the same time that “such a proposal can not exist or be implemented in practice.” “Will they return to power but will Turkey retain the territories?” asked Mr. Papadopoulos. “Since there will be no continuity in this basis of solution – if we can say so – we will not continue” noted the president of DIKO, noting that this proposal gives “food to those who want to change the basis negotiations and are the ones seeking two states or division “.
Concluding, he noted that “the most worrying are the initiatives of third parties, mainly the British, who want to introduce new terms. “If these are the intentions of third parties, we are at a borderline and key point,” he added.
