US Vice President Kamala Harris sent her own message for Women's Day, speaking to the European Parliament, stressing that both the US President and she look forward to working with the EU.
Kamala Harris pointed to the dangers of pandemics, climate change and populism, noting that “neither the United States nor Europe is immune to these threats.”
The U.S. vice president referred to both the low-wage women affected during the COVID pandemic and the greater weight they had to lift at home due to restrictive measures.
In addition, he stressed the need to ensure that women have access to high-quality health care and are treated with dignity in the workplace.
Equal voice in decision-making leads to free and fair democracies, said Kamala Harris.
“If we build a world that works for women, our nations will be safer, stronger and more prosperous.”
