Only a few days have passed since Beyoncé's new album “Renaissance” was released and the musician has already received complaints about two tracks on the album, which she changed.
Firstly, the musician was forced to change the track 'Heated', as it had a lyric that used the word 'spaz' and as happened with Lizzo a while ago, the use of the word caused a backlash as it was considered offensive to people with spasticity diplegy. On the other hand, in the track “Energy” we heard a sample from “Milkshake” by Kelis, who… also heard it for the first time with us and thus, asked to be removed, since in the credits only the names of the Neptunes appear and not hers.
Beyoncé is now receiving another complaint about her track, this time not for a song from “Renaissance”, but for “Partition” from her album simply called “Beyonce” from in 2013.
In fact, Monica Lewinsky is asking the singer to remove a lyric that mentions her by name, namely “Throw my buttons, rip my blouse/Monica Lewinsky 'Got' on my dress”.
Lewinsky had already expressed her displeasure with the verse in 2014, writing characteristically in her article in Vanity Fair: “Thanks Beyoncé, but if we're going to say what she 'suffered', I think you meant 'Bill Clinton 'suffered' on the dress.” my””.
Now, the 49-year-old is bringing the topic back into the conversation, with a tweet. The former White House staffer broke the news about the “Heated” lyric, writing, “Um, since we're here…”, with the hashtag #Partition.
In comments below her post, Lewinsky says, “I've learned to deal with painful or humiliating things by finding humor in them,” while she clarifies that she has not officially approached Beyoncé and her team about changing the verse in question.
uhmm, while we're at it… #Partition
