A 46-year-old man is in custody for attempted vehicle theft-The owners are in the hospital

A 46-year-old man was taken into custody by court order, who was arrested by members of the Police, when early today, in Limassol, he was spotted inside a parked car by citizens, who immobilized him after the suspect had previously tried to escape.

< p>The owners of a car, which was parked in an area of Limassol, around 3.20 in the morning, realized the 46-year-old suspect was inside their vehicle. After two of the owners approached their car, the suspect fled. They followed him and together with a third citizen who ran to help, stopped him in an adjacent park, despite the fact that the suspect allegedly, according to the evidence under investigation, pulled out a knife and resisted.

At the same time, after the Police had been informed, members of the OPE Limassol rushed to the area, where they subjected the 46-year-old suspect to a check. In his possession, the members of the Police found in a purse, a knife and various burglary tools, including a chisel, a chisel, a metal cutter, and a hammer used for breaking windows, as well as a pair of gloves.

The suspect was arrested by the members of the OPE, for the self-inflicted crime of possessing burglary tools and was taken to the offices of TAE Limassol for further tests, while the tests carried out on the parked car into which he allegedly entered , it was found that the vehicle had damage to the lock, as well as various plastic parts and cables in its interior, which had been cut.

Interrogated by members of the TAE Limassol, the 46-year-old suspect allegedly confessed to the commission of the offenses under investigation. He was arrested on a warrant for the purpose of investigating a case of attempted theft, possession of burglary tools, carrying a knife, carrying a weapon to incite terror, and assault and battery causing actual bodily harm.

During the incident, the two owners of of a parked car were slightly injured and taken to Limassol General Hospital where they underwent medical examinations. As it was established, the first had abrasions on his right hand and the second had abrasions on both hands, as well as on his body. After receiving treatment, they were discharged.

Later on Saturday morning, the 46-year-old suspect was brought by members of the Police before the Limassol District Court, which, at the request of the Police, issued a four-day detention order for for the purpose of investigating the case.

The case is being investigated by the Limassol TAE.
