-Dreams about the beloved city of Famagusta turned to ashes after the performance of Tayyip Erdogan in the occupied city. And who will lift the weight to create hope for the Famagusta people who for years prepared the suitcases of the return, without making the slightest progress from 1974 until today?
-In such historical moments, some people must lift the weight, not only for the desperate situation in which Cyprus as a whole is today, but also for our City itself and for all our occupied land. The weight should have been lifted by the coordinated State, but we received apathy and a relaxed reaction. It is difficult to swallow that Famagusta was given to us so many times and those we called leaders insisted on “either all or nothing”. And of course we were given the second one!
-Why now the initiative ONLY FAMAGUSTA for the whole of Cyprus? To whom is this move aimed?
-You will always find us in every effort to reunite our homeland. When we realized that our leaders had other priorities, we took the initiative ALONE, addressing all Cypriots. Famagusta for Cyprus. We borrowed two words from the Venetian who built the walls of Nicosia… by Giulio Savorgan, who after visiting Cyprus, announced to the Most Peaceful Republic of Venice that “only Famagusta can save Cyprus”, Solamente Famagosta wrote. On the occasion of what our eyes saw on November 15, we decided that the starting point of the awakening will be Famagusta for Cyprus. The move is addressed to all Cypriots, because the loss of Famagusta is the beginning of the loss of our island. There is room for everyone, no one is left over… the movement will be pan-Cypriot and I hope the people will support us, especially the new generation, to support a voice that will put an end to that infamous word invented by the leaders, its “sanding” Cyprus.
