We have the vision, we have the plan, we have the people to implement the requests and expectations of the many, said the candidate for President of the Republic Andreas Mavroyiannis in his greeting at the meeting of AKEL Famagusta, in Deryneia.

“In these elections, each and every one of us is called to answer a single basic question: Do we want things to change or do we want to continue on the same path with the same policies and with the same people,” he said, referring to two realities, "the one we all live" and "the virtual that the rulers want to present".

Mr. Mavroyiannis stated that "the Cypriot issue has been stagnant for more than five years. The divide is gaining ground day by day. The name of Cyprus has been dragged internationally by a series of scandals in which the current administration is the protagonist. Corruption and entanglement spread tentacles, governmental tentacles.

Continuing, he said that "it is a mockery of Cypriot society that Mr. Christodoulidis claims today that corruption is something permanent but also indefinite", adding that " “No matter how much the followers of Mr. Anastasiades want to hide it, corruption grew during their days because they were the first to inflate it, tolerate it and still cover it up”.

Referring to the economy, Mr. Mavroyiannis  he said that it is an economy with so much potential, with human resources of perspective, which now bears the stigma of so many scandals, while adding that “the daily life of Cypriot society is becoming increasingly difficult because it was left exposed to the wave of precision, to the destruction of labor rights, the inability to secure housing and fixed wages”.

Mr. Mavroyiannis said that "the Cypriot people in these Presidential Elections have before them three candidates but two options. Third five years of Democratic Alarm or real progressive change, adding that “change is not a slogan.” It is a social demand and it is no coincidence that 70% of Cypriot society in every measure calls for change. He asks for hope and perspective for the reunification of Cyprus.

"We have the vision, we have the plan, we have the people to make the requests and expectations of the many a reality. We have an ambitious governance program that is centered on the need for Cyprus to finally move forward. To invest in its advantages, to make use of its people, to take steps in the future with new ideas, new policies, bold, radical, promising ones”, he said.

The elections will highlight A. Mavroyiannis as Prime Minister, said AKEL Secretary General

Besides, in his speech at the Meeting, the General Secretary of the K.E. of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou stated that "the train of change that started last June is nearing its end. And this goal will be triumphant for Cyprus and our people. Because the elections will make Andreas Mavroyiannis the President of the Republic and we will finally change things in the country, we will open a new page. We will put an end to the problems and impasses that plague Cyprus, our country, our people, all of us.

He said that "we are here very close to the enslaved Famagusta which in recent years has become the target of strengthening the occupation data, and in Famagusta the failure of the contradictory and wrong policy of Nikos Anastasiadis has culminated – Alarm» and from this area, "we are sending the message that the change has as its first task to seek to take initiatives, to push things to solve the Cyprus problem, to reunify Cyprus, for the refugees to go to their homes and not to look away from away from Famagusta».

He added that "we want the same thing to happen to the Kyrenians, the Morphites and everyone", mentioning that there is a prospect for a solution, "we need someone with concrete initiatives to push things towards a solution and that is Andreas Mavroyiannis because he has the planning, he has the vision, he has the will, he has a unique experience, which he has accumulated from the tens of years that he deals closely with the Cyprus issue and its solution.

Mr. Stefanou said how “society wants change”. And all of us can be the protagonists of change. Continuing the hard work we have started. A job that delivers results, a job that gives perspective. If we continue this hard and specific work on February 12, which is the second round of the Presidential Elections, the polls will elect Andreas Mavroyiannis as President of the Republic of Cyprus.

The candidacy of Andreas Mavroyiannis, he said, « is the only candidate of change that has a serious chance of winning the Presidential Elections and the message is no vote wasted. All those who desire change in this place have no other real choice. The selection is by Andreas Mavroyiannis.
