A Memorandum of Cooperation, in the fields of economy, trade and investment, was signed by Larnaca and the city of Junieh in Lebanon.

In a statement from the Municipality it is stated that “the Mayor of Larnaca Andreas Vyras welcomed to his office the Ambassador of Lebanon to Cyprus Claude Hajal and the delegation that accompanied her including the Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus Selim Sfeir, Juan Hobeiche Mayor of the city of Junieh, Father Akl Abou Nader – Maronite Vicar of Larnaca, Consul of Maldives Sergio Eid, President of Blue Wave Shipping & Navy Group International Stephanie Eid and the Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Sylvester (Pope of Rome) Antonis Hatziigiannatzii”.

Mr. Vyras expressed his “satisfaction with the visit of the delegation and noted that the presence of all, realizes the desire to establish relations of friendship and cooperation through twinning, between the historic city of Junieh and the equally historic city of Larnaca”.

It is added that “the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two cities aims to establish relations of friendship and cooperation in various fields that will promote the values ​​of solidarity between the two cities.” At the same time, he looks forward to cooperation in areas such as the economy, trade, investments and issues such as the development of entrepreneurship between the two cities”.

Also “the two cities will seek to expand their cooperation in various fields, such as tourism, education, culture, sports and the environment. During the signing of the Memorandum, the importance of its signature was emphasized and it was noted that today is the beginning of a new cooperation between Cyprus and Lebanon”.
