Great interest from private secondary schools

To date, another 14 private Secondary Schools, from five provinces of Cyprus, representing about 2/3 of the students of the private schools of Cyprus, have decided to integrate a course of Financial Education, from September 2022. & nbsp; responded positively to the invitation are (in alphabetical order):

The Financial Education course was designed by the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Cyprus and is expected to last About 25 weeks.

It will cover the concepts of interest rates, interest rates, inflation, savings, lending, insurance, investments, retirement and digital financial integration.

The course material will be offered free of charge, in both Greek and English by University of Cyprus, in the context of its social contribution and will be adapted by these Schools based on their own needs.

In addition to this initiative, the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Cyprus offers, from September 2020, courses in Financial Education and Personal Finance for students of the University of Cyprus. Also, through the new courses, it prepares research on the diffusion of knowledge outside the classrooms.

The University of Cyprus also participates in the Ad-Hoc Committee for the formulation of a “National Strategy for the Promotion of Financial Literacy and Financial Education in Cyprus”. The Committee, which was established following a relevant proposal of the Education and Culture Committee of the Parliament, consists of executives from the Central Bank of Cyprus, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, the Cyprus Capital Market Commission, the University Of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology.

At the same time, in the context of the actions already implemented to improve the level of & nbsp; Financial Literacy, the Association of Financial Analysts of Cyprus organizes for the 4th consecutive year educational lectures in public and private schools, with the aim of highlighting the basic aspects of Finance. 45 minute presentations.
