A woman lost her life on Friday, July 23, at Vrysi beach (Flamingo) in Protaras, in front of the lifeboat Vrysi1.
In today's announcement, the Pancyprian Committee of Professional Beach Lifeguards states that around 09.20 on Friday, an off-duty lifeguard (the lifeguards at Vrisi1 are on duty at 10.00) was called to provide first aid to an unconscious foreign woman, aged about 60 years.
The victim was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation and a defibrillator was used, while an ambulance was called for her immediate transport to the Famagusta General Hospital.
On the occasion of this new incident, the Pancyprian Committee of Professional Lifeguards calls on the competent authorities to immediately re-evaluate the coverage hours of each beach in Cyprus, according to the degree of traffic, as the committee notes incidents occurring while there are shipwrecks. there are no lifeguards on duty.
Finally, says the Commission, “some people need to understand that the lifeguard service does not raise discounts, as staff cuts and beach coverage hours translate not into money savings, but into the loss of human lives.
