Calling all concerned to help every child start school with a smile
Forty and fifty families are expected to be supported this year by the Paphos Provincial Volunteer Coordinating Council (ESSEP) with the start of the school year, according to the Council's Volunteer Administrative Officer, Anthi Leonidou Stroppou.
In her statements to KYPE, Mr. Leonidou stated that the collection of school supplies for the children of vulnerable groups is one of the priorities of the Council.
In addition, he invited all interested parties to help every child start school with a smile. The ESSEP, he said, collects school supplies, such as bags, cassettes, notebooks, stationery, clothing and underwear, books and fairy tales. He also continued, educational toys, furniture and equipment such as desks, office chairs, libraries and computers while also accepting gift vouchers from supermarkets and shops.
He also pointed out that individuals, families, municipalities, communities, businesses, educational institutions, organized groups, etc.
When asked if volunteering should be adopted by everyone and if it is an act of life for herself, Mrs. Leonidou answered that volunteering is an attitude and lifestyle. It is an act that shows kindness, charity, social justice and social participation, he said.
It is a contribution to our fellow man, to ourselves and above all to our country. It is an act that is done with knowledge, generosity and the need to offer, the best elements we have and not the ones we have left over, he pointed out.
It concerns us all and we can all become volunteers, he added.
