The topic “The complaint about the settlement of Cyprus by Turkey to the International Criminal Court and the attitude of the Republic of Cyprus” has been registered for discussion in the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs “, following a suggestion by the MP of Ecologists – Citizens' Cooperation George Perdiki. This initiative is undertaken following the actions of MEP Costas Mavridis.
According to Mr. Perdikis, he was led to this action by the following reasoning, which he developed in a letter to MP George Lillikas, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs. The following is the letter:
I have been informed that MEP Costas Mavridis has filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court alleging the colonization of Cyprus by Turkey, under the guidance of the leading expert, Professor E. Kontorovich. “Mr. Mavridis's complaint was approved by the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus, but there has never been an official participation of the Republic of Cyprus, as the MEP has publicly complained. at the end of her term, she will decide on the complaint concerning the Turkish settlement of Cyprus and whether she will refer the matter to the Court, but reasonable questions are raised about the attitude of the Government and why it has not chosen to be part of it. case “.
For this reason, I consider that the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs should register and discuss the issue in question as soon as possible in order to be informed by the stakeholders about the case and in particular by those responsible for the reason why the Republic of Cyprus has not become part of the case before the International Criminal Court and whether it intends to formally declare its participation in the proceedings “.
