The Water Supply Council, on the occasion of the World Water Day, is calling on society to help and support water protection, assuring that it remains committed to its proper management and ready for integration into the new Limassol District Self-Government Organization.

In a statement, the WFD says that World Water Day highlights the critical importance of water in our lives and highlights the urgent need to address water-related challenges for a sustainable future.

“Without concerted efforts to address these challenges, the availability and quality of water will continue to decline, threatening human well-being and ecological stability,” he continues and notes that, according to data from the World Health Organization and UNICEF, 2.2 billion people around the world still live without safe drinking water, including 115 million people who use surface water for drinking.

The theme of this year's World Water Day is 'Water for Peace', adds the SYL, reminds that water can be a cause of conflict but also a way to solve problems when countries and communities work together harmoniously.

Among other things, SYL emphasizes that its efforts are continuous to “contribute to a future with water safety” and that the Organization is equipped with technologies and utilizes European Programs and funds, maintaining and upgrading the water network and other infrastructures located in boundaries of its area.

Indicating that its integration into the Limassol Provincial Self-Governing Organization, next July, will significantly expand these boundaries, SYL assures that it is ready and fully committed “to the goal of sustainably managing the water resources and to provide clean and quality water to all our consumers”.

In this effort, he continues, “we want society as a helper and supporter”, while he once again addresses a challenge to society for management of water with care and respect.

“There are many simple ways to save water, which we must make our daily habit. Let us all renew our commitment to the proper management of water and take action to protect and preserve this invaluable resource,” the announcement also states.
