ACCA: Upgraded study aid for the tax course in Cyprus

Taxation is a complex chapter in accounting. That is why ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and the Association of Chartered Accountants of Cyprus (SELK) have developed additional study aids, in order to strengthen their future members studying in Cyprus, to successfully manage possible tax complexities that will have to handle in the future.

Prospective ACCA and SELK members preparing in Cyprus for the upcoming tax examinations – Taxation (TX) and Advanced Taxation (ATX) Cyprus – are able to take advantage of this material approved under the ACCA RCP program (Recognized Content Provider) and validated by SELK.

For the Advanced Taxation course, the study material was prepared by Polina Iakovidou-Michael, PwC Academy instructor, who has been authorized by the ACCA RCP program to write the aid. The material has been evaluated by the ACCA examination team and validated by SELK.

This study aid, which concerns the course of Cyprus Taxation (Taxation Cyprus-TX), is an addition to the existing textbook, which was written by Ms. Iakovidou-Michael, and which has also been evaluated and approved by both bodies.

Mr Alan Hatfield , Executive Director Strategy & Development of ACCA states : “This study material contributes to the vocational training of future members who wish to become the next ACCA approved tax experts, and who will be able to gain in-depth knowledge of tax law and tax regulations.

Bringing the approval of ACCA and the ratification of SELK, the study material covers the entire tax subject (TX Cyprus and ATX Cyprus). In addition, it guides our students properly to deal effectively with future exams, during which they will be asked to be able to handle tax issues and analyze elements of the Cypriot tax system. “

Kyriakos Iordanou, General Manager of SELK, commenting stated :

“We are very pleased to contribute to the publication and approval of such study materials. This series of guides includes all the latest and current developments in the field in Cyprus, while it is the basic study material for all students preparing for the tax exams (TX Cyprus and ATX Cyprus) in Cyprus. In addition, these guides are considered an important aid for professionals in the industry.

Polina Iakovidou-Michael, author and educator states:

“As an instructor with almost 25 years of experience in teaching the subject of taxation under the Cypriot and British legal framework, I have seen the challenges that students face in trying to prepare for this subject, which come mainly from the lack of relevant study material. This need has led me to invest time and effort in writing the material that students will use to achieve their goals. I would like to thank ACCA and SELK for their support and help in order to make this whole effort a success “.

ACCA invests in such projects, as one of its main priorities is to ensure that its current and future members will continue to be the most up-to-date, reputable and sought-after accounting professionals worldwide.
