It is time for decisions for AKEL for the presidential elections, but without white smoke coming out of the first session of the collective body of the Left party. The party's Politburo, which met yesterday, did not complete its session, which will continue this morning. As we are informed, yesterday's session, which was long, did not reach a decision regarding the two names before it, as possible for support in the presidential elections. Something that will happen today, with the discussion now going deeper, as the Political Office of AKEL will have to prepare its proposal to the Central Committee of the party, which will meet on Saturday with the possibility of its continuation on Sunday. & nbsp;
According to our information, during yesterday's session, AKEL Secretary General Stefanos Stefanou made a detailed analysis to the members of the Politburo, the positions of both Andreas Mavrogiannis and Achilleas Dimitriadis, as recorded by the personal interviews conducted by two of them from the members of the Party Secretariat, in the previous days. As it is known, the Secretariat of the party had a meeting with Achilleas Dimitriadis last Saturday and with Andreas Mavrogiannis last Monday. The two of them were asked about all issues, such as the Cyprus issue, issues of Education, Health, Social Policy, but also issues of corruption and transparency.
Achilleas Dimitriadis handed over to the members of the Secretariat a copy of his program and Andreas Mavrogiannis answered in detail everything that was asked by the members of the Secretariat. Both said they were ready to enter the battle for the presidency. Achilles Dimitriadis has already announced his candidacy and which, as he stated publicly, will remain until the end, regardless of party or non-party support. Andreas Mavrogiannis stated that he is ready to lead the effort for Change if this is part of a collective dynamic, noting that the support of AKEL as the largest opposition party, gives credibility to a candidacy. & Nbsp;
All this was brought before the members of the Politburo and clarifications were given on various issues where possible. At the same time, as we informed, there was a discussion about the context of the political proposal, as it will be formulated, expressing the goal of the Left party for a substantial and progressive change that will end the ten-year rule of the Democratic Alarm. Despite the fact that some statements were made in relation to the two names, however, the discussion was not completed, with the members of the AKEL collective body agreeing that it would be better for the discussion to continue today, when it will be brought before the Politburo and suggestion of the Secretariat for placement on their part. As we are informed, in addition to the fatigue of the members of the party body, due to the long session, it seems that there is an intention such that, whatever the outcome, be as close as possible to the session of the Central Committee. This is because, as we are informed, in Hezekiah Papaioannou they want to avoid discussions and various comments on social media and not only, which may be caused by intentional or unintentional leaks that will occur. Therefore, today will be closer in time to the meeting of the Central Committee, whose members will formulate the final proposal to the party base groups in the context of the dialogue that starts on Monday.

Based on the AKEL process, after At today's meeting, a proposal will be made to the Central Committee, either with one of the two names or both.
