On 29/03/2024 the District Court of Famagusta acquitted a woman accused of a fatal traffic accident that caused the death of a 29-year-old Indian cyclist.

The accused did not admit the charges and respected the right to remain silent.

The fatal traffic accident occurred on 24/01/2022 on Liopetriou Sotiras road with the unlucky cyclist Parvinder Singh, a student from India, who died instantly from being hit by the defendant's vehicle.

According to the testimony filed before the Court, the defendant's vehicle stopped at a great distance from the point of collision with no signs of braking.

The victim's family, through their lawyers, requested the Attorney General to file an appeal against the decision of the District Court of Famagusta and/or a retrial of the case.
