A new case of shots being fired at a photo-marking vehicle, while on duty, on the Rizoelias-Agia Napa highway, is being investigated by the Larnaca TAE. The employee who was in the vehicle was not injured, while the Police will have a meeting with the company today to take measures. >
As reported by the Cyprus News Agency, Christos Andreou, Police spokesperson, “around 21:45 on Monday night, an employee of the company that manages the photo-marking system (mobile cameras), was on duty in a company vehicle on the Rizoelia – Ayia Napa highway between Communities of Pyla and Xylotympo. At some point, the vehicle appears to have been approached by a large displacement motorcycle, which was passing through the specific road and on which were two persons wearing a protective helmet.”
He added that “two shots were fired against the vehicle , one of which hit the car in the rear and the second in the side. The employee who was in the vehicle was not injured by the shots”.
According to Mr. Andreou “the scene was blocked from the first moment by the Police and examinations and investigations by experts have begun in order to secure evidence which may help the investigative work to identify the unknown perpetrators. The police investigations are currently in the very early stages to solve the case”.
