The first air conditioners will be put into operation with the return of students to schools – They entered 50 school units
H evaluation of the progress of installing air conditioning devices in public schools was the subject of discussion during a meeting of the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Athina Michailidou yesterday Tuesday with the Presidents of School Ephorates of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Paralimni – Deryneias, as well as the General Manager and other executives of the Cyprus Electricity Authority.
The first air conditionerswill be put into operation with the return of students to schools, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.
Specifically, as mentioned, during the meeting it became clear that, despite the obstacles that were presented and the fact that the School Boards, which are the main implementing bodies of the project, is in a phase of changes after the June elections, the process of installing air conditioners in the first fifty schools, in all provinces, has progressed, with the first air conditioners being put into operation when students return to school. p>
It is also noted that, in the context of the holistic approach being followed, a necessary condition is the completion of the electromechanical studies and the control process by the EAC, procedures that are already being completed, in parallel with the installation.
It is further stated that in the immediate future the implementation of the next phase of the project will proceed in another 50 schools, with the goal of completing the project within the three-year time limit that has been set to remain, since it has been ensured, in cooperation with the General Accounting Office of the State, that the current bidding process will be followed throughout the three years.
It is finally emphasized that the process will proceed without setbacks, until all schools are equipped with air conditioners and in terms of the determination of the Government is a given, while in parallel with the installation of the air conditioners, the process of energy upgrading of the buildings of all public schools (roof insulation, tree planting, shading, etc.) is also underway.
In the meeting was also attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, the Director of Technical Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture and other officials, as stated in the announcement.
