LOVE CYPRUS: More than 160 schools participated, with more than 600 projects
Impressive interest from the schools of Cyprus
Everyone's expectations were exceeded by the interest of the public in the Pan-Cypriot LOVE CYPRUS Contest organized by the F.I.Yianis Christodoulou Foundation. Almost 200 public schools participated in the competition with more than 600 projects in total (photos & videos with dance), creations by students who showed their excellent talent, while highlighting the beauties and culture of Cyprus.
The new initiative of the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation aimed to stimulate the creativity of our students, and their willingness to contribute to the common good, since they knew from the beginning that the awards would be used for the building, technological or other upgrading of their schools . Mr. Yiannis Christodoulou warmly welcomed the participation of schools from all provinces and from all levels, with 50% participation of schools from cities and 50% from villages!
The unexpectedly large participation of students and teachers caused feelings of joy. and emotion to the organizers. And the quality and level of the works was impressive. Over 2,160 students took part in these projects from nearly 200 schools representing over 45,000 students.
Based on this, we conclude that since almost 50% of schools and students came into contact directly or indirectly with the competition, we can be sure of the great willingness of students to improve and modernize the school they attend. At the same time, the teachers' genuine interest in an upgraded learning environment that meets the current needs and interests of our children is demonstrated.
Finally, it shows the huge interest of the parents, who helped to achieve the above. All this interest of thousands of people – students, teachers, parents – sends a resounding message that the society of Cyprus is interested and has a strong desire for an upgraded learning environment that attracts our children. This is exactly one of the main goals of the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation.
Regarding the intentions of the schools to use the prize, in the vast majority of them they reflect both their needs due to the Cypriot weather data, and the changes in the children's interests: Sunshade for protection from the sun during break times, outdoor gym, interactive whiteboards and computers, sports fields, aesthetics of spaces, closed entertainment-multipurpose rooms, etc.
Prizes with a total value of €170,000 will be offered to the winners. With the slogan 'LOVE CYPRUS', a large part of Mr. Yiannis Christodoulou's vision has been achieved, since all the creations promote Cyprus, not only as a summer tourist destination, but also as a country characterized by great tradition and culture, hospitality, arts, customs and natural wealth.
The finalists are expected to be announced within days, since the evaluation and selection is done with great difficulty, due to the fact that most of the works are judged to be highly valuable, with Mr. Yiannis Christodoulou to have an active participation in this process.
Awards with guest star Konstantinos Argyros
A great celebration of love, music and… reward is in store for F.I. Yianis Christodoulou Foundation, within the framework of which he will award the winners of the competition. The prizes amount to €170,000. The official award ceremony of the 6 winners (3 in each category) will take place on April 3, 2023 at Monte Caputo Limassol, in the presence of selected guests. Konstantinos Argyros will raise the mood by performing his great hits. The prizes will be awarded to the winners by Mr. Yiannis Christodoulou, together with special guests.
Finally, it should be noted that participation in the event is strictly by invitation.
