On Monday, May 9, 2022, a total of 152 sampling points will operate as part of the measure & # 8220 ; test to stay & # 8221; of which 55 in school units and 97 in clinical laboratories.
The specific points will operate from 7:00 am to 8:00 am for the best service of the people who will be close contacts. (For students of Secondary Education it is recommended that they arrive between the hours of 07:00 – 07:30, so that there is no further loss of teaching time).

The “test to stay” measure applies to students and teachers in Primary and Secondary education of the Public and Private sector, as well as to children aged 3 and over who attend kindergartens, pre-primary and special schools (excluding children regardless of age who attend in nurseries). The measure “test to stay” is addressed to persons who are close contacts of a confirmed positive incident and according to the protocol are obliged to self-restraint.
Excluded from the application of the measure “test to stay” persons holding a valid certificate of illness or vaccination (follow the instructions for managing close contacts).
Instructions for children attending kindergartens, pre-primary and special schools:
Children who are in close contact with a confirmed positive incident inside and outside the school will be able to attend the predetermined points announced by the Ministry of Health for a rapid antigen detection test (Rapid test) on the 3rd and 5th day after contact. The rest of the days (1st, 2nd, 4th) parents should conduct a self-test on their children. The use of the measure is optional.
From 11 April 2022, this measure extends to extracurricular activities.
Students will continue to complete the check-in form provided by the school unit upon entering the school, while receiving the test result in a text message or printed form to provide proof of extracurricular activities. The form will be signed by the parents on the days the children take the self-test.
Parents will obtain the self-test package from the Tracker of the school unit, each time their child is in close contact with a positive incident.
For the Special Schools that have nursing staff, the test will be conducted at the school upon arrival of the children. It is understood that children who have been declared as close contacts may not use school buses for transportation.
Children who do not use this measure should follow the instructions instructions of the Ministry of Health for the management of close contacts of a confirmed positive incident. That is, they will limit themselves for the period of 5 days and will conduct a Rapid test on the 3rd and 5th day at points indicated by the Ministry of Health.
The examination is provided free of charge.
It is understood that during the weekend, the “test to stay” procedure is not required.
School units (kindergartens, pre-primary, special schools) will be able to procure self packages – test by the school ephorates or by the Association of Private Preschool Education of Cyprus
Students who constitute a positive incident within the family are excluded from the measure.
Instructions for students:
Adherence to the above measure is optional and is addressed to students who are in close contact with a confirmed positive incident inside and outside the school and should be self-restricted, as defined by the health protocol governing the school units (two meters distance from all directions of the positive incident, inside the classroom, during break time, during sports and during transportation by private vehicle).
Specifically:
Students who do not have a history of vaccination, or who have received at least one dose of vaccine, or who have become ill and the 90-day period has elapsed, have the option of either being confined for 5 days as per the relevant protocol or perform a rapid antigen test (Rapid test) daily for a period of 5 consecutive days after contact. It is understood that during the weekend, the “test to stay” procedure is not required.
Students participating in the “test to stay” are not required to attend predetermined sampling points referred by the Ministry of Health for Rapid antigen test on the 3rd and 5th day from the date of contact.
This measure from April 11, 2022, extends to extracurricular activities.
Students will continue to complete the check-in form provided by the school unit upon entering the school, while receiving the test result in a text message or printed form to provide proof of extracurricular activities. Children aged 14 and over should post the result on the EUDCC portal to obtain a QR code.
Students should avoid being trafficked through the Media Public Transport and their transfer to school by private vehicle.
The absence of three students from the classroom during the laboratory testing process will be justified.
It is clarified that, if a person is tested in the afternoon and is found to be positive, his contacts at school will be able to use the application of the measure & # 8220; test to stay & # 8221 ;.
Primary and secondary school students living in remote or mountain communities will continue to be served by the sampling points that will visit the schools.
In each case, the responsibility of escort and supervise of the children who will come to the sampling centers located in the schools, have the parents/guardians.
