A total of 32,837 vaccinations were carried out during the period 27 December 2020 to 5 February 2021 in all the Provinces of Cyprus. A total of 22,813 people in the over-80 age group received the first dose of the vaccine, according to the National Vaccination Plan for COVID-19.
At the same time, the process of granting the 2nd installment to health professionals of OKYPY and the private sector, as well as residents and staff of nursing homes in all the Provinces through mobile units is in progress. In addition, the process of administering the 2nd dose has started in the Vaccination Centers of people over 80 years of age, according to the appointments that are determined after the administration of the 1st dose. The total number of people who have received the 2nd dose so far and therefore completed their vaccination is 10,024.
Citizens belonging to the age group that has a priority for vaccination are advised to make an appointment at the first available time and time, so that there is a continuous flow in the Vaccination Centers.
Depending on the rate of exhaustion of appointments for people over the age of 80, citizens will be informed through an announcement about the availability of appointments to the next group according to the Vaccination Plan. Citizens are invited to follow the announcements of the Ministry of Health, in order to know the differences in the age group and to make an appointment.
It is reminded that, based on the plans, as of today, 10,058 appointments are available through the Vaccination Portal and access to the Portal is available to people over the age of 80, who have not made an appointment in the previous weeks or have not already been vaccinated. The appointments concern the period from the 8th to the 21st of February. Also, for the convenience of the citizens, vaccinations are carried out in remote areas through mobile units.
The goal of the Ministry of Health, according to the expected quantities of vaccines that will be received within the month, is to have completed in February the vaccination process with the first dose for people over 75 years of age and health professionals. At the same time, following a recommendation from the ad hoc committee set up to determine the hierarchy of vulnerable groups, vaccination of individuals who fall into certain groups at increased risk for serious illness is gradually beginning.
