On Thursday afternoon, the Plenary approved an amendment to the Social Insurance Law, in order to grant the self-employed the right to receive a parental leave allowance and benefits in cases of professional injuries and to determine the relevant insurance policies for obtaining them.

The MPs also approved an amendment to the Leave (Paternity, Parental, Caring, Force Majeure) and Flexible Work Arrangements for the Balance between Professional and Private Life Law, in order to clarify that the terms and conditions for granting parental leave allowance are regulated based on the provisions of the Social Insurance Law, as well as to supplement the proposed ones, with the No. 22, draft regulations, which provide the right to parental leave allowance to the self-employed.

An amendment to the Social Insurance (Fund Accounts) Regulations was also approved , so that the basic pension account and the supplementary pension account are credited with amounts corresponding to the increased percentages of the insurable earnings of employees, the self-employed and the voluntarily insured on which contributions have been paid.
