Kostas Gouliamos, professor, vice-rector of the European University of Cyprus and regular member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, was awarded one of the two international awards for “outstanding contribution to general education” by the “International Federation of General Education of Universities of Applied Sciences” '. The other 'outstanding contribution to general education award' went to James C. Crabbe, Professor of Biochemistry and Ecology at Oxford University.
The academic and administrative community of the European University of Cyprus welcomes the international distinction of its member Kostas Gouliamou, which is due to his particularly important contribution inside and outside Cyprus, to the sciences, letters and arts.
The International General Education Federation of Universities of Applied Sciences is headquartered in Wuhan Business University, China. The award ceremony was held in the city of Wuhan, capital of China's Hubei province. The jury members for the awards come from both world-leading universities – e.g. the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, RMIT University in Australia or Zhejiang University in China – as well as from the Romanian Academy”.
In his public statement, Professor Kostas Gouliamos underlined: “I think that this award reflects the recognition and approval of the international community for what the world of Letters, Sciences and Arts is doing in Cyprus and Greece. Finally, I take the opportunity to confess that during all these decades I had the good fortune to collaborate and connect, within and outside borders, with important intellectuals, writers, artists and composers who marked our time on a universal level. Humble as they were and are, they taught me something unique: To improve the extent of my ignorance. I'm still learning…”.
