The Deputy Minister of Shipping, Mr. Vassilis Dimitriadis, is going today, November 5, 2021 to Glasgow, on the occasion of tomorrow's participation in a High Level Conference organized by the International Maritime Chamber on “Shaping the future of Shipping”. The Conference seeks to bring together key players in the global shipping industry to discuss the green transformation of shipping and, more specifically, carbon sequestration, based on the goals and results of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). – COP26).
The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, the Director-General of the International Intergovernmental Organization for Renewable Energy and the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund have been invited to participate in the Conference. international shipping and energy centers.
“This is a very important conference. “The fact that Cyprus is among a very small number of countries that were selected to participate and take a position on important challenges facing global shipping, shows the prestige and recognition that Cyprus Shipping enjoys in the global shipping industry,” said Mr. Dimitriadis.
The Undersecretary will participate as a speaker in two consecutive discussions on current and upcoming legislation to address the contribution of shipping to tackling climate change, and will have bilateral contacts with his counterparts, as well as with representatives of shipping organizations and companies.
