Annita Dimitriou intends to present a proposal for a law to regulate the issue of the lifetime benefits of former Presidents of the Republic and former Speakers of the Parliament in a different, transparent and rational framework, as she states in today's written statement, in view of the discussion of the matter in the Committee on Institutions.
It is noted that in the context of the four recommendations she submits, she herself renounces her vehicle, at the end of her term.
It is recalled that, as mentioned by “Φ” , with a letter to the Minister of Finance, Maki Keravnosrequested immediate official information on whether or not the Ministry of Finance intends to submit to the House of Representatives a bill, regulating all legislative and constitutional aspects of the issue of multiple pensions for state officials,

I understand that today a debate is starting in the Institutions Committee on the lifetime benefits of former Presidents of the Republic and former Speakers of the Parliament.
It is my personal opinion that these lifetime benefits should be abolished and all arrangements should be put into a different, transparent and rational framework.
This is a practice that is still in place today and will it must be immediately and drastically revised.
Therefore, I propose the following:
1. Abolition of the lifetime concession of a state vehicle upon expiry of the term and setting a termination time. I personally renounce it.
2. The provision of security measures to former officials to be approved only upon the recommendation of the Police and to introduce a re-evaluation clause every 5 years.
3. The secretarial support allowance should be granted in terms of transparency regarding the procedures for assigning work and paying fees. Among other things, the purpose must be to record and classify the file and the deeds of the former official's tenure with the delivery of the result to the State Archives and the maintenance of international relations and contacts beneficial to Cyprus.
4. The revised regulations should apply to all former, current and future high government officials.
For all this, pending the investigation of the services of the Parliament on the what applies in other modern countries, I intend to file a specific Law Proposal.
