Another 400 thousand rapid tests ordered by the Ministry of Health - New mobile sampling units

With an increased number of mobile sampling units, the general population control program continues with the method of rapid antigen detection (rapid test) in urban centers throughout Cyprus, as well as in communities of all Provinces.

The aim of the program is to control as much of the population as possible, in the context of the strategy implemented since the beginning of the pandemic to carry out increased laboratory tests in the community. This practice helps to identify people who are positive for the virus and therefore to isolate them in a timely manner and limit transmission to their social and professional environment.

To achieve the goal of epidemiological control of the general population, the Ministry of Health has ordered 400,000 rapid tests in addition to the quantities provided so far, as an important weapon in its quiver for pandemic management.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health, in the context of the new measures that come into force from tomorrow, and wanting to ensure the safety and health of employees in companies whose operation is not suspended, proceeds from next Monday to conduct tests with rapid antigen test in businesses and in industrial areas all over Cyprus. Through mobile units, employees who will continue to work with a physical presence are given the opportunity to be examined, protecting their health and safety. In addition, it ensures companies that there are no cases on their premises, which will ensure their smooth operation.

The program with the points where the units for the employees will be located will be announced daily.

It is reminded that for today, January 9, 2021, sampling will be carried out for the general population in the following locations, and citizens are urged to come for examination, utilizing the program, which aims to protect their health:
