Another eight deaths and 2,062 new cases of coronavirus were announced in Cyprus

Eight deaths and another 2,062 new cases of coronavirus announced by the Ministry of Health for the week of February 17 – 23.

The eight deaths of our fellow citizens concern: 

  • Male, aged 67, who died on 07/02/2023
  • Male, aged 89, who died on 09/02/2023
  • Male, aged 90, who died on 14/02/2023
  • Female, aged 86, who died on 15/02/2023
  • Male, aged 85, who died on 20/02/2023

  • Male, aged 89, who died on 20/02/2023
  • Female, aged 91, who died on 21/02/2023
  • Male, aged 82 years old, who died on 22/02/202

The total number of deaths with the final cause of the disease COVID-19: 1,305.

Also, 48 patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the hospitals of OKYPY and 12 in serious condition (ICU: 3. off ventilator/7 intubated, MAF: 2)

Diagnostic tests:

  • Total 69,346 diagnostics performed tests
  • 2,062 new cases detected (total 649,093 cases).
  • Positive rate of all tests 2, 97%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 1,818 molecular tests performed
  • There were 108 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 5.94%

< b>Total number of rapid antigen detection tests (Rapid Test):

  • Performed < b>67,528 rapid antigen detection tests
  • There were 1,954 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.89%

Private initiative:

  • 1,380 molecular tests were performed, 69 < /b>positive cases (positivity rate 5%)
  • 41,624 rapid antigen detection tests performed, 1,751 positive cases detected (positivity rate 4.21%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 25,904 rapid antigen detection tests were performed. 203 positive cases were detected.

  • Sampling points: 17,269 rapid detection tests, 116 positive cases detected (positivity rate 0.67%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 639 rapid antigen detection tests, 4 positive cases (positivity rate 0.63%)
  • Medium Education: 1,224 rapid detection tests, 13 positives detected cases (positivity rate 1.06%)
  • Special Schools: 129 rapid antigen detection tests were performed, 4 positives were detected incidents (positive rate 3.1%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: performed < b>4,709 rapid antigen detection tests, 64 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.36%)
  • Closed structures: conducted < b>1,934 rapid antigen detection tests, 2 new cases detected (positivity rate 0.1%).
