Another four dead on Monday, how many cases were found…

The Ministry of Health announces that today, September 13, 2021:

  • Four people died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 532.
  • 107 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 45 are in serious condition. 82.25% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
  • 10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
  • A total of 76,913 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
  • 159 (positivity rate: 0.21%) new cases of COVID-19 were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 118,090.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19 disease:

The four people who died with the ultimate cause of death attributed to COVID-19 are:

  • A 66-year-old woman who ended up on September 12 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
  • A 73-year-old man who ended up on September 12 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
  • An 84-year-old man who ended up today at Larnaca General Hospital.
  • A 89-year-old woman who ended up today at the General Hospital of Famagusta.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 532, of which:

  • 341 men (64%), and
  • 191 women (36%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76.4 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 107 patients with COVID-19 are treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 45 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 45 patients in serious condition, 19 are intubated, one is admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 25 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive cases COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 76,913 diagnoses made today, 5,111 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 71,802 by the antigen rapid test method, 159 cases of COVID-19 were identified, which resulted as follows:

  • 14 cases from 215 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 5 cases of 2,679 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 26 cases from 1,694 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 7 cases from 279 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 82 cases from 50,693 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 25 cases from 21,109 samples that were examined with the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 244 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
