The Municipality of Nicosia informs the public that, as part of the "Anti-Flood Works in the streets of Old Nicosia" project, from Wednesday November 16, 2022, work will begin on the installation of a rainwater drain and the installation of Service networks Public Benefit on Xanthis Xenierou street (section from Athens to Onisilou). The works are expected to last 3 weeks.
As stated in the relevant announcement, as part of the works, Xanthis Xenierou Street will be closed to road traffic, for the first week of works, from the junction with Areos. From the second week of work, the section of the road from Areos Street to Athens Street will be open to traffic and the work will be limited to the section between Athens Street and Onisilos Street. Passing drivers who would use the above road in the direction of Agios Antoniou Street will be able to do so via Konstantinou Palaiologou Street, since the one-way route will be reversed in the entire section up to Archiepiskou Makariou Street B’.
As stated, traffic arrangements are being made to serve residents, workers and passers-by and passing drivers are asked to follow detour signs.
