Dalcio is the definition of “multitool”
This year's APOEL is a team without dependencies as any football player who is absent, finds the solutions and walks on the right paths (see here). But at the same time there are players who stand out with their performances. One such is Dalcio, who is probably the most stable football player in the team.
The international midfielder with Guinea-Bissau, impressed with his appearance against AEK as of course in the previous games. He has played as a starter in all the games except for the match against Anorthosis in which he did not have the right to participate due to suspension. He may not have scored so far in the league but he has 2 assists and the contribution on the pitch is huge.
His runs are non-stop, while in collaboration with Konstantinov they put an early brake on the offensive efforts of their opponents. Along with correct transfers, it essentially contributes to offensive development. However, the assist to Etogalas in the game against Ethniki Achnas, where he unlocked the opposing defense with a vertical pass, is typical.
More generally, the 27-year-old midfielder is an example to follow for each of his teammates. He follows his coach's instructions to the letter, while he is ready to “sacrifice” himself for the team. He is not afraid to put his foot in the fire and if he wants to he can play from the right end of the defense to the left end of the attack. The definition of a “multi-tool” since he has played as a right back, defensive midfielder, eight, attacking midfielder, right winger, left winger and second striker since he put on the “Blue and Yellow” jersey.
It is no coincidence that all three coaches who have spent the last two seasons from APOEL (Augusti, Milojevic and Sa Pinto) have Dalcio in their initial selections for the eleven.
When his acquisition was announced last season, several they urged to “finish” him. They thought it couldn't help and that it was a “doomed to fail” option. Along the way, not only did he deny everyone, but now the conversation goes to renewal. His contract expires at the end of this year and if he continues like this then the team's management will not be long in inviting him to sign an extension of the partnership.
