APOEL starts the playoffs by facing on Sunday (25/2, 16:00) at Anorthosis in Larnaca and his non-negotiable goal is the double, in order to maintain (in the worst case) the +3 from the second Mars.
Out of the team of Famagusta, however, which is actually playing one of its last cards to stay alive in the battle of Europe, will have an “opponent” and the… very low success rate it has had in recent years in “A. Papadopoulos”.
Since the 2019/20 season, the blue and yellow have won just 12.5% of their away games against Anorthosis, having just one double in eight encounters.
The only victory was achieved in the only match they gave to “PAP” last season, 2-0 (2nd matchday) thanks to goals from Marquinios and Bloom. Previously, APOEL counted six consecutive defeats at the home of Anorthosis (the two were for the cup), while this year the draw (1-1) of the 5th matchday (they took the lead against Kvilitaia) was added this year.
APOEL is obliged on the one hand to build… an undefeated streak in “A. Papadopoulos” (if he doesn't lose it will be the third consecutive match) and ideally to get back to winnings by getting his second in the last five years, so that he can either keep the +3 from Aris or increase the distance, if the Limassolians don't win the Omonia.
