APOEL is present

Must read

The “blue and yellow” in three top derbies had 3/3

Ο ΑΠΟΕΛ δηλωνει παρων

At APOEL they are counting down for next Sunday's game (31/3) against AEK, at the “Arena”. This particular derby has been characterized by many as a summit derby, since the Larnaca team are just one point behind the leaders and if they beat them they will climb to the top.

For a whole round now, the “blue and yellow” are at the top of the standings. More specifically from the 11th matchday (11/11/2023). Since then they have only fallen from first place for one race by Aris, but they took the reins again a few days later. More generally, APOEL played top derby three times, in which they did well against Omonia, Anorthosis and Ari.

Back in the 16th matchday when the “greens” were at -3 and with a win they could reach the top and tie the whole of Sa Pinto. However, with their victory the “blue-yellow” 3-0 escaped to +6. Two games later, Anorthosis found themselves at -1 but again with the “narrow” 1-0 and Tomane, APOEL extended its lead to +4 and showed that it has something more. Even Aris came to GSP but lost 1-0, after excellent management of the score by the “blue and yellow” players.

Nevertheless, the two previous poor performances and defeats may lead to yet another possible third failure that will cloud the “Archangel”. It should be noted that the last time this happened was during the Savva Poursaitidis era, in the first games of the championship (he had suffered three consecutive defeats) when the Helladite coach left and was succeeded by Sofronis Augustis.

The positive presence of Dvali and Kvilitaia

The two Georgians competed in yesterday's game against Luxembourg. The 2-0 win pits them against Poget's side and now the Greek national team stand in their way of qualifying for Euro 2024. Dvali played the full 90 minutes while Giorgi Kvilitaia came on as a substitute in the 86th minute showing that he has overcome injury and is expected to be in the squad for the derby with AEK.
