This year's squad is 'rich' in talent with several young, talented, players
In yesterday's (2/9) article (see here) we expressed the opinion that it is imperative for APOEL to put more speed and energy into their game. We believe, it goes without saying that the missing energy and speed – explosiveness will be provided by young age players.
In the potential of the Blue and Yellows there are 8 senior footballers, of which, at least 7 of them, are counted as basic units. We refer to Belets (6/6/1990), Petrovic (8/3/1989), Susic (18/11/1990), Cepak (12/10/1989), Tehera (28/5/1990), Konstantinov (7 /9/1990), Endogala (14/6/1991) and newcomer El Arabi (3/2/1987).
Especially the old players, who were also in APOEL last year, show strong signs of fatigue. To be fair, we should note that El Arabi, despite being the oldest, in the recent match against Riga, ran and fought more than anyone!
The eight oldest players they have the quality and experience to help APOEL, however they definitely need special treatment in order not to run out of strength.
This year's squad is “rich” in talent with several young players under the age of 26 who look like they can meet the high demands and tough competition.
Ambania ((9/9/1998), impressed in his debut, with his virtues. The same as the youngster (12/11/2002), striker Marius Kormou (7/5/2002), has managed to show his value in the previous matches that he opportunities were given.
An eleven… hopes
From the young in age. players in Archangelos, ready to help substantially in the renewal of the team are also some others:
Cipriano (9/11/2002), has the physical qualities, but needs a lot of work to meet the very demanding central defender position.
We don't know much about the case of the young (21/6/2004) Brazilian defender (left back), Vitor Mer, who came to Cyprus with the best of recommendations. Argentinian Lautaro Cano, who also plays on the left wing, looks more ready (22/8/2002).
The three Cypriot midfielders
For the midfield, the Cypriots Giannis Satsias (28/12/2002) and Paris Polykarpou (23/9/2000) proved that they can help if they have the opportunities. Next to them is the 18-year-old (12/4/2006), Panagiotis Kattirtzis, who has great talent and thirst to reach the top.
The also 18-year-old (23/1/2006) Ghanaian Charles Appia, despite the his technique is very good, he should get stronger enough to be able to claim opportunities.
The 20-year-old (4/2/2006) Helladite Christos Karanatsios, who, as we learned, may be loaned, also has good data.
In the attack (apart from Ba) there is also the interesting case of the 21-year-old Brazilian Maioli (2/2/2003), “extreme” with a good perspective.
A new goalkeeper, the Brazilian (with an Italian passport), Pereira (2/7/2002), was recently added to the team of last year's champions, while Andreas Christodoulou (26/3/1997), who played only in (4) friendly.
