The period for submission of interest ends on March 1, 2024

The Board of Directors of the Agency for the Out-of-Court Resolution of Financial Disputes has announced a call for submission of interest for the position of Financial Commissioner, thus starting the process of selecting the new head of the Agency, who, after the establishment of the new framework for divestments, will have expanded powers.

The period for submission of interest ends on March 1, 2024.

In today's announcement, the Agency's Board notes that the call for interest is being made in order for the Council to formulate a proposal to the Council of Ministers.

As mentioned, the duties of the Financial Commissioner are defined in the 2010 Law on the Establishment and Operation of the Single Body for the Out-of-Court Resolution of Financial Disputes L. 84(I)/2010) as amended or replaced from time to time.

Required Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Characteristics:

1. University degree or title or equivalent qualification:

(i) in economics or finance, and knowledge and experience in legal matters as defined in paragraph 2 below, or

(ii) in legal and knowledge and experience in economic or financial matters as defined in paragraph 2 below.

2. At least ten years of experience in a responsible position in economic, legal or financial matters, depending on the case as described above in paragraph 1, of which at least five years of experience in supervisory/administrative tasks, which include planning, organization, coordination, guidance and task control.

3. Very good knowledge of the issues related to the economic and financial sector in Cyprus, as well as the best practices of other countries, to ensure the rights of consumers in their transactions with financial companies.

4. Integrity of character, known authority and honesty, highest moral level and increased sense of law, managerial, organizational and administrative ability, initiative, responsibility, very good oral and written communication skills, equanimity and analytical thinking.

5 . Excellent knowledge of Greek and very good knowledge of the English language.

Tenure and benefits:

• The term is five years and may be renewed for one more term. The position is full-time and the person who will hold the position may not engage in any other professional activity during the term of his appointment.

• The salary and other terms of service of the Financial Commissioner will be determined by the Council of Ministers.
