The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry (YEEB) announced on Monday the Call for applications within the framework of the 2nd Announcement of the “Sponsorship Plan for the Creation, Modernization and Digital Upgrade of Agricultural Products Processing and/or Trading Units”.

As stated in the announcement of the Ministry, the total amount that will be allocated, as a result of savings from the 1st Plan Announcement, will be at least €3 million, in which to be added any other savings that will result from the completion of the implementation of the 1st Proclamation.

The proposal submission period will begin on April 9, 2024 at 9 a.m., and applications will only be accepted through the YEEB online Grant Scheme System using the browsers Chrome, Firefox and Edge, until May 31, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. or until the available budget is exhausted.

It is clarified that due to the additional savings expected from the 1st Call, applications will be accepted for a total budget of €7 million, however the maximum amount of approvals will not exceed the available budget of the Grant Scheme. The order of priority will be determined based on the order in which proposals are submitted (immediate evaluation).

It is added that the Plan will be implemented under Measure C3.1I6 of the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan and will be financed by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism of the European Union (EU).

It aims to support existing and new Small and Medium Enterprises, as defined in Annex I of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which are active or will be active in the processing and/or marketing of agricultural products. Activities related to the fishing and aquaculture sectors, wines and wine vinegar included in part II of Annex VII of Regulation (EU) 1308/2013, are not covered by the Plan.

It is emphasized that troubled companies, which meet the criteria defined in article 2 point 18 of Regulation (EU) No. 651/2014, are not entitled to sponsorship from this Plan.

Those interested can obtain the final Scheme Guide, which sets out all the details, as well as other required forms or documents, from the Industry and Technology Agency website.
