Archaeological excavations in Galinoporni with the support of Ankara

<p data-block-key=Archaeological excavations in the occupied village of Galinoporni have resumed after a pause due to a pandemic and since 2005 when the investigations began, more than a thousand have come to light objects, according to the type. 

The newspaper “Kipris” writes, according to the General Directorate of Public Security, that the excavations at the “Hill of the King” began after an accidental discovery of findings in 2004. They are being conducted under the supervision of the “Eastern Mediterranean University (DAÜ) Eastern Mediterranean Cultural Heritage Research Center” with funding from the Turkish “embassy” Development and Economic Cooperation Office and the “antiquities and museums department”.

The aim of the research, which sheds light on the Neolithic Period, is to understand the way of life of the people who lived in the area, and the 25-member team is studying the findings, which include ceramic, stone tools and animal bones, to reconstruct the daily life of the inhabitants. 

The next excavations are planned for July 2025, it is noted.
