In a glorious ceremony at a luxury hotel in Athens, the prizes were awarded on Friday night to the wineries of various countries that were distinguished in this year's, & nbsp; 22nd International Wine and Spirits Competition of Thessaloniki. In this year's ceremony, which attracted the attention of Greek and foreign media, a Paphian winery played a central role: The Kolios winery, of Statos-Agios Fotios, won, for the first time in Cyprus, the Gold Medal for its best red wine competition.
The Paphos regional winery was represented by one of the owners of this family business, Leonidas Kolios, who, receiving the grand prize, as well as four other awards for an equal number of other products, pledged that the winery will continue its efforts to upgrade of Cypriot wine and local products.
Shiraz 2015 harvest of the Kolios winery won the Gold Medal for the best red wine of the international competition, a distinction that for the first time achieves Cypriot participation in this competition. He also won silver medals for the Cabernet Sauvignon vintage 2016, in red wines, Persefoni vintage 2021, in white wines and bronze medals for the red Maratheftiko 2017 and Agios Fotios 2018.
Speaking to “F” after the award , Leonidas Kolios also thanked the wine lovers of Cyprus for their preference for the products of the winery and pointed out that the family business will continue to support the local production and the quality upgrade of the Cypriot vineyard.
