Arrest of a 58-year-old man who left the scene of an accident – He left a 28-year-old disabled woman without help

The Paphos Police proceeded to arrest a 58-year-old man for a traffic collision case and leaving the scene of the accident without providing assistance to a 28-year-old woman with mobility aids problems.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nikolaou, on 3.6.24 at around 19:15 a permanent resident of Cyprus, aged 58, was driving his car in Paphos, with three other passengers persons two aged 68 and one aged 71.

At one point of the road, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, and under circumstances that are being investigated, he allegedly hit and injured a 28-year-old girl, who is a disabled person who crossed the road from left to right, according to the path of the vehicle, assisted by two of her relatives. The 28-year-old has mobility problems.

The driver then left the scene and drove his car away from the scene without providing any assistance. The 28-year-old was found to have suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture in her left lower extremity. The 58-year-old was arrested on a warrant at 23:40 on Monday and is in custody.
