The arrest of another person, in order to facilitate the investigations regarding an investigated case of fraud, embezzlement and theft by trickery, was carried out by the Police yesterday.
He is a 68-year-old resident of the province of Famagusta, who was arrested on a warrant and detained.
The case was reported to the Police, last July, by a 57-year-old resident of a village in the province of Nicosia. According to the complaint, between May 2020 and June 2021, the complainant allegedly paid a sum of € 400,000 to a 54-year-old man, with the aim of purchasing plots of land from a specific company, for which he has not yet received title deeds. The 54-year-old allegedly introduced himself to the complainant as a real estate agent, who would undertake all the procedures for the purchase of the plots of land. In fact, in one of the meetings they had, the 54-year-old allegedly introduced the 68-year-old to the complainant, who introduced himself as one of the managers of the company that managed the specific plots of land.
According to the complaint, due to the delay in the transfer of the plots to the complainant, the latter requested and had meetings with the 54-year-old, during which the alleged real estate agent allegedly gave him two handwritten notes, which state the amount of his debts to the complainant. complaining. The two notes are signed by the 54-year-old, while they are mentioned and signed as witnesses by the 68-year-old and a 65-year-old.
Police examinations revealed that the 68-year-old, who appeared as one of the managers of the management company, in fact has nothing to do with the specific company.
For the specific case, the Police proceeded to issue three arrest warrants, against the 54-year-old, the 68-year-old and the 65-year-old. Two of them were executed, after in addition to yesterday's arrest of the 68-year-old, on August 12, the 65-year-old was also arrested, who after being interrogated, made some allegations, which are being investigated and he was released.
